Original Cast Recording of Broadway’s Leap of Faith, Starring Raul Esparza, to Hit Stores in December

Ghostlight Records will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Alan Menken and Glenn Slater’s short-lived musical Leap of Faith next month. Produced by Menken and Michael Kosarin with Executive Producer Rick Kunis, the disc will be available digitally on December 4 and in stores on December 18.

Leap of Faith, which received a Tony Award-nomination for Best Musical, despite only playing 24 previews and 20 regular performances at the St. James Theatre, starred Tony nominee Raul Esparza as con artist Jonas Nightingale, who arrives in a drought-plagued small town with a revival tent and the promise of miracles. But he encounters more opposition than he bargained for when he meets the town Sheriff (Jessica Phillips) and her disabled son (Talon Ackerman).

Directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo, the musical was inspired by the film of the same title and featured a book by Janus Cercone and Tony Award winner Warren Leight. The principal company also included Krystal Joy Brown, Kendra Kassebaum, Kecia Lewis-Evans, and Leslie Odom, Jr. The ensemble featured Hettie Barnhill, Kyle Brenn, Ta’Rea Campbell, Michelle Duffy, Lynorris Evans, Manoly Farrell, Dierdre Friel, Bob Gaynor, Lucia Giannetta, Angela Grovey, Louis Hobson, Tiffany Janene Howard, Grasan Kingsberry, Fletcher McTaggart, Maurice Murphy, Ian Paget, Terita Redd, Eliseo Román, Bryce Ryness, Ann Sanders, C.E. Smith, Danny Stiles, Dennis Stowe, Betsy Struxness, Roberta Wall, and Virginia Ann Woodruff.

While the show closed before the Tony Awards, the cast did get to chance to perform a hyper-energetic number on the nationally televised broadcast, which you can see here.
