Neil Patrick Harris to Host L.A. Ovation Awards

Neil Patrick Harris will host the L.A. Stage Alliance’s Ovation Awards, which will be presented at 7:30pm on November 13 at the Orpheum Theatre. Presenters will include Amy Brenneman, David Galligan, Sam Harris, Matt McGrath, David Hyde Pierce, and Doug Savant.

Over 50 Los Angeles-area productions received nominations this year, including the musicals The Drowsy Chaperone and Curtains, and productions of the plays All My Sons, Elizabeth Rex, The Cherry Orchard, and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.

In addition, composer/lyricist Jerry Herman will receive the L.A. Stage Alliance Board of Governors Award for Lifetime Achievement, and the California Institute of the Arts Community Arts Partnership will receive the group’s Community Outreach Awards.

Harris has appeared on Broadway in Assassins, Proof, and Cabaret, as well as the national tour of Rent. He currently stars in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and is best known for playing the title role in the ABC TV series Doogie Howser, M.D.
