It has just been announced that Richard Alfieri’s play Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks will close at the Belasco Theatre following its 3pm performance on Sunday, November 23. As of its closing, the production will have played 26 previews and 30 regular performances.

According to a press release that was issued late this afternoon, star Polly Bergen, who missed a number of performances due to a previous leg injury, will be unable to return to the show on a regular basis, thus necessitating the production’s closing. Standby Kathleen Doyle will assume Bergen’s role of Lily Harrison for the remaining performances; Mark Hamill will continue in his co-starring role of Michael Minetti.

The production was directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman; it features choreography by Kay Cole, scenic design by Roy Christopher, costume design by Helen Butler, lighting design by Tom Ruzika, and sound design by Philip G. Allen.
