Obie Award winner Mark Blum has joined the New Group cast of Francine Volpe’s The Good Mother, which will perform at Theatre Row’s Acorn Theatre October 29-December 22, with an opening on November 15. He replaces Bill Sage, who had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict.

The previously reported cast also features star Gretchen Mol, as well as Darren Goldstein, Alfredo Narciso, and Eric Nelsen. Scott Elliott will direct this world premiere play centering on a single mother (Mol), whose past questionable actions come back to haunt her.

The production will feature set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Cynthia Rowley, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Bart Fasbender.

Blum recently played the role of Dick Jensen in the Broadway revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man (a role he had previously played in the 2000 Broadway revival of the same play). Other recent stage appearances include the Off-Broadway productions of Lonely, I’m Not and We Live Here.
