Manhattan Theatre Club has extended the run of its Broadway production of Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People through November 18. Doug Hughes directs Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s new version of the drama, which runs at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Boyd Gaines and Richard Thomas head the revival’s cast, along with Maïté Alina, Gerry Bamman, Kathleen McNenny, Randall Newsome, John Procaccino, Michael Siberry, and James Waterston. The ensemble of townspeople includes Mike Boland, Victoria Frings, Andrew Hovelson, John Robert Tillotson, and Ray Virta.

In the play, Dr. Thomas Stockmann (Gaines) discovers a toxic secret that threatens the health of his entire community. The doctor expects to be hailed as a hero, but his brother, Mayor Peter Stockmann (Thomas), believes the information will destroy the town, forcing the men into a passionate confrontation of political will and personal ethics.
