Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss and Obie Award winner Rinde Eckert will star in Colin Greer’s Imagining Heschel, to run November 4-28 at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Larry Moss will direct the production.

The play explores the private conversations between Cardinal Augustin Bea and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel which took place between 1962 and 1973, when Heschel was asked to aid the Vatican Council in formally exonerating the Jews for the death of Christ.

Dreyfuss’ stage credits include Sly Fox and Death and the Maiden on Broadway and Complicit at the Old Vic. He won an Academy Award for The Goodbye Girl and was nominated for a second Oscar for his performance in Mr. Holland’s Opus.

Eckert was a 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama for Orpheus X, won an Obie Award for And God Created Great Whales, and received a Drama Desk nomination and a Lucille Lortel Award for Horizon.
