On Sunday, October 17, Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Julia Cho's The Language Archive opened at the Laura Pels Theatre, with a cast featuring Betty Gilpin, John Horton, Jayne Houdyshell, Matt Letscher, and Heidi Schreck.

The play concerns a man consumed with preserving and documenting the dying languages of far-flung cultures, but who doesn't know what to say to his wife, Mary, from leaving him or how to deal with the deep feelings that his lab assistant, Emma, has for him.

The Language Archive won the 2010 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize awarded to an outstanding new English-language play by a woman. Cho's other plays include The Piano Teacher, 99 Histories, Durango, The Winchester House, BFE, and The Architecture of Loss.
