The Broadway production of Kneehigh Theatre’s Brief Encounter, presented by The Roundabout Theatre Company at Studio 54, has announced a four-week extension, and will now close on January 2, 2011. Emma Rice has adapted and directed the piece.

Brief Encounter combines elements of Noël Coward’s screenplay, and the one act play on which it was based, with song, dance and Technicolor displays of emotion. It previously played New York at St. Ann’s Warehouse in December 2009.

The cast features Joseph Alessi (Albert/Fred), Dorothy Atkinson (Beryl), Damon Daunno (Bill/Bobbie), Gabriel Ebert (Stanley), Edward Jay (Musician), Annette McLaughlin (Myrtle), Adam Pleeth (Musician), Tristan Sturrock (Alec), and Hannah Yelland (Laura).

The design team includes Neil Murray (sets & costumes), Malcolm Rippeth (lighting), Simon Baker (sound) and Gemma Carrington & Jon Driscoll (projection).
