Walsh, Heller, et al. to Appear in Transport Group’s Normal

Barbara Walsh, Adam Heller, Erin Leigh Peck, Nicholas Belton, Nancy Johnston, Toni DiBuono, and Shannon Polly will appear in the Transport Group production of Normal, a new musical by Yvonne Adrian (book), Tom Kochan (music), and Cheryl Stern (lyrics). Directed by Jack Cummings III, the show is scheduled to run at the Connelly Theater from October 20 through November 12; it will open officially on October 30.

Normal tells the story of a mother who is determined to save her daughter from a life-threatening eating disorder. Adrian, Kochan, Stern, and Cummings all collaborated on Transport Group’s The Audience, which received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Musical. (Kochan, an Emmy winner, and Stern, who is also a Broadway actress, are married to each other.)

The show’s creative team includes Scott Rink (choreography), John Story (scenic design), Kathryn Rohe (costumes), R. Lee Kennedy (lighting), Seth Gutterman and Ray Schilke (sound design), and John DiPinto (musical direction).

To appear in Normal, Walsh is taking a break from her role of Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray. She is a Tony nominee for her work in Falsettos and has also been seen on Broadway in Big and Blood Brothers. Heller’s New York theater credits include A Class Act and Merrily We Roll Along. Peck was seen on Broadway in Dance of the Vampires and the revival of Grease. Belton starred Off-Broadway in My Life with Albertine. Johnston’s Broadway credits include The Secret Garden and The Music Man. DiBuono won a Drama Desk Award for Forbidden Broadway. Polly was in The Audience.
