Ed Harris and Amy Madigan to Star in What’s Wrong With Virginia

Stage veterans Ed Harris and his real-life wife Amy Madigan have joined the cast of the film What’s Wrong With Virginia, according to Variety. The film will be directed and written by Dustin Lance Black, who won the 2009 Academy Award for writing the screenplay for Milk.

The film, which will also star Emma Roberts and Jennifer Connelly, concerns a sheriff whose state senate bid is jeopardized when his daughter begins to date the son of a psychologically disturbed woman with whom the sheriff has engaged in a two-decade affair.

Harris received a Tony Award nomination, Drama Desk Award, and Theater World Award for Precious Sons and was last seen on Broadway in Taking Sides. His other stage credits include the Off-Broadway plays Fool For Love, Simpatico, and Wrecks. He has received Academy Award nominations for The Hours, Pollock, The Truman Show, and Apollo 13.

Madigan played Stella in the 1992 Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire and starred in the 1990 L.A. production of Eduardo Machado’s Stevie Wants to Play the Blues . She received an Academy Award nomination for Twice in a Lifetime.
