Winners of Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Original Short Play Festival Announced


The winners of the 27th Annual Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Original Short Play Festival have been announced. The six winners were chosen following the 10-day festival, during which 76 short plays were presented. Those 76 were chosen from 200 entries in all, submitted by playwriting workshops nationwide.

The list of winning plays and their authors, as well as the production companies that presented them, is as follows:

Born To Be Blue by Mark Bellusci — The Schoolhouse, in association with The Writer’s Group

The Parrot by Le Wilhelm — Love Creek Productions

Flights by Susan Cameron — Mind the Gap Theatre

A Doctor’s Visit by Mark Loewenstern — Vital Theatre Company

Three Questions by Maurice Martin — Playwrights Forum

The Devil’s Parole by Eric Giancoli — Mind the Gap Theatre

The festival, under the aegis of Love Creek Productions at the Chernuchin Theatre, was presented from August 8 to August 18. An announcement of the next festival will be made early next year.
