Created by Caleb Hoyer and Jennifer Ashley Tepper, the concert will feature songs about someone who has changed the writers' ideas of New York City.

Writers contributing to the concert will include Danny Abosch, Deborah Abramson, Gaby Alter, Nick Blaemire, Jake Brandman, Zina Goldrich, Adam Gwon, Paul Scott Goodman, Marcy Heisler, Caleb Hoyer, Joe Iconis, Michael R. Jackson, Galt MacDermot, Julia Mattison, Ryan Scott Oliver, Willem Oosthuysen, Bill Russell, Charles Strouse, and Zack Zadek, with additional writers announced at a later date.
