Tony Award winner Melba Moore and Heather MacRae — both of whom performed in Hair 40 years ago — will join the Broadway revival cast of Hair for With A Little Help From My Friends, which will celebrate and benefit Broadway and Stratford Shakespeare Festival actress, Lindsay Thomas. The concerts will be presented on September 14 at Joe’s Pub at 9:30pm (guest starring Moore) and 11:30pm (with MacRae). Lon Hoyt will provide musical direction.

Thomas, who appeared on Broadway in Hairspray, was recently diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer. This benefit concert help raise funds to contribute to the cost of her medical care, including medications, and holistic therapies.

As previously announced, performers will also include Nikki M. James, David Reiser, Ryan Silverman, Karen Burthwright, Leslie McDonel, Miles Johnson, and Jamie McKnight. There will also be an auction of special items, including a “walk-on” in Hair, to raise additional funds.

The event is being produced by Thomas’ close friend, Caissie Levy, who plays Sheila in Hair. Levy said in a statement, “Lindsay is one of my best friends, and a truly incredible woman. She has the biggest heart, and is always the first person to help out a friend in his or her time of need. When I approached our Tribe of actors, musicians, and producers, and told them Lindsay’s story, everyone jumped at the opportunity to come to her aid. We hope people within the New York community will join us to benefit Lindsay’s cause, and to celebrate the healing power of music and friendship.”

Tickets are $35 standing room, $50 table seating, and $250 VIP. Call 212-967-7555, or visit joespub.com.
