The Paley Center for Media will present Musicals on Television, a sampler of rare telecasts of four classic musicals, on September 20 and 21. This is a partner event with The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF).

On Saturday, September 20 at 2pm, the Center will show a 90-minute television adaptation of Brigadoon, Lerner and Loewe’s classic musical, about two Americans who chance upon a Scottish town that comes to life once every hundred years, starring Robert Goulet, Peter Falk, Sally Ann Howes, and Edward Villella, followed at 3:30pm by the 1972 television adaptation of Of Thee I Sing, a political satire featuring a score by George and Ira Gershwin, starring Carroll O’Connor, Cloris Leachman, Michele Lee, Jack Gilford, and Jim Backus.

On Sunday September 21 at 2pm, there will be a showing of the 1954 “Colgate Comedy Hour” version of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, starring Ethel Merman, Frank Sinatra, and Bert Lahr, followed at 3pm by a 90-minute version of the original television musical Junior Miss, with a score by Burton Lane and Dorothy Fields, starring Carol Lynley, Don Ameche, Joan Bennett, Jill St. John, David Wayne, Diana Lynn, and Paul Ford.
