Canadian actor Jonathan Crombie will play Man in Chair in the award-winning Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone beginning on August 21. He replaces John Glover.

Crombie played the role earlier this year, and will perform in the show's national tour beginning in October. The role of Man in Chair was originated by co-author Bob Martin, who will play the part only for the initial leg of the national tour in Toronto.

Crombie's theatrical credits include the Toronto production of The Drowsy Chaperone, in which he played Gangster #2, as well as Dishwashers, This Can't Be Love, and Godspell. He is best known for his work on the Canadian television series Slings & Arrows and Anne of Green Gables.

The Drowsy Chaperone won five 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Book (Bob Martin and Don McKellar) and Best Score of a Musical (Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison), and seven Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical. Directed by Casey Nicholaw, the show also stars Mari Davi, Jo Anne Worley, Danny Burstein, Peter Bartlett, and Beth Leavel.
