Civil rights activist and author David Mixner will premiere his theatrical tell-all Oh, Hell No! in a special one-night-only event on Monday, October 27 at New World Stages. The performance, presented by Amy and Jeff Towers and produced by Tim Ranney, will benefit Point Foundation, a nonprofit organization that empowers LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential. Event chairs for the evening will include Alan Cumming, Robert Desidrio, Herb Hamsher, Judith Light, Ken Mehlman, Rob Smith, Jonathan Stoller, Jorge Valencia, and Edie Windsor.
Mixner brings stories from his headline-grabbing life to his new stage piece, directed by Stephen Brackett and a specially assembled trio featuring the voices of Chris Bolan, Megan Osterhaus, and Tim Jerone. A staunch anti-war activist, his most notable contribution to the political sphere was his role as one of the head organizers of the Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam. After coming out of the closet in 1976, Mixner also became a founding member of the Municipal Elections Committee of Los Angeles (MECLA), the nation's first gay and lesbian political-action committee.
