The New York premiere of Romulus Linney's A Lesson Before Dying, opening in September 2000, is the first production of this ambitious undertaking. It will be followed by the world premiere of Horton Foote's The Last of the Thorntons in November. Next up is the New York premiere of Urban Zulu Mambo, a one-woman show starring Regina Taylor and featuring new material by Taylor, Ntozake Shange, Kia Corthron, and Suzan-Lori Parks, in December.
A new play by Lee Blessing (details TBA) will be presented in Spring 2001. The celebration continues in 2001-2002 with premieres of works by Edward Albee, Maria Irene Fornes, John Guare, Arthur Miller, and Sam Shepard.
