The Broadway production of Wicked has announced plans to offer a special performance to benefit The Actors Fund on July 18 at 2pm. All proceeds from the show will go to national human services organization The Actors Fund.

Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young girls Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively. The long-running favorite features hit songs like "Popular," "For Good," and "Defying Gravity."

Wicked features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production, which plays at The Gershwin Theatre, is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The Actors Fund is a national human services organization that helps everyone who works in performing arts and entertainment with programs that include emergency financial assistance, health care and insurance counseling, housing, and employment and training services.
