Mult-platinum recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus will make his Broadway debut in the musical Chicago, at the Ambassador Theatre. He will star as Billy Flynn for a limited engagement, November 5-December 23.

Cyrus has sold more than 25 million albums internationally, and has had three No. 1 hit singles, including his signature tune, “Achy Breaky Heart.” His most recent album, I’m American, was released last year in conjunction with his hit TV Series “Surprise Homecoming” on TLC. His newest album, titled Change My Mind, is scheduled for release in late October/early November on Blue Cadillac Records.

As an actor, Cyrus has performed in lead roles such as the title character of the PAX-TV series Doc and as Robby Ray Stewart, the father of daughter Miley Cyrus’ fictional character in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana.

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.

The production has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
