PHOTO FLASH: Charles Busch, Julie Halston at IT Awards’ CABARETION 2.0 Benefit

The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, honored Charles Busch with the 2011 Innovative Theatre Luminary Award at the organization’s benefit CABARETION 2.0, held at Therapy’s upstairs lounge, on Monday, June 27.

Julie Halston, one of Busch’s longtime collaborators, presented him with the award.

Busch is the author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, and The Third Story. His Broadway play The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife won the Outer Circle Critics’ John Gassner Award, and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He is also the recipient of a 2003 special Drama Desk Award for career achievement.
