Smash Soundtrack Set for May 1 Release

The soundtrack of NBC's hit musical drama Smash will be released on May 1, according to Amazon.com.

The 13-track CD will include numerous tunes penned for the series, which looks at the creation of a musical about Marilyn Monroe, by Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, including "The 20th Century Fox Mambo," "Let Me Be Your Star," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "Let's Be Bad," and "History Is Made at Night."

The recording will also include numerous covers of pop hits by the cast and guest stars including "Beautiful," "Brighter Than the Sun," and "Haven't Met You Yet" (which was performed on the show by Broadway star Nick Jonas).

The cast features Debra Messing, Christian Borle, Anjelica Huston, Megan Hilty, Katherine McPhee, Jaime Cepero, Jack Davenport, Raza Jaffrey, Will Chase, and Brian d'Arcy James.

NBC has already ordered a second season of the series.
