Langston in Harlem Musical Extends Off-Broadway Through May 9

The world premiere musical Langston in Harlem, presented by Urban Stages, has announced a one-week extension, and will now close on May 9.

The musical utilizes Langston Hughes' writings, with additional contributions from the show's composer Walter Marks and director, Kent Gash. Set in the African-American cultural capital of Harlem from the Harlem Renaissance through the Civil Rights movement, it tells the story of Hughes' journey into manhood.

Josh Tower stars as Langston Hughes, with the cast also including Jordan Barbour, Francesca Harper, Boise Holmes, Dell Howlett, Krisha Marcano, Kenita Miller, Gayle Turner, Glenn Turner, and C. Kelly Wright.

The creative team includes Emily Beck (scenic designer), William H. Grant, III (lighting designer), Austin Sanderson (costume designer) and Jason Fitzgerald (sound designer).
