Berkeley Rep has announced its preliminary selections for the 2007-2008 season, which will feature seven works on two stages.

The Rep’s Roda Theatre will feature a production of George Bernard Shaw’s classic drama Heartbreak House, set on the eve of World War II, directed by Les Waters (August 31-September 14), and the West Coast premiere of Mary Zimmerman’s acclaimed Argonautika, based on the Greek myth (November 2-December 16).

Offerings on the Thrust Stage will include Frank Galati’s acclaimed production of Haruki Murakami’s after the quake (October 12-November 25), a world premiere solo outing for award-winner Danny Hoch, directed by Tony Taccone (January 11-February 19), and the American premiere of Tragedy: a tragedy by Will Eno, author of Thom Pain (March 28-April 27).

The sixth slot will be filled by Peter Quilter’s comedy Glorious, based on the life of socialite-singer Florence Foster Jenkins, with the title role to be played by multi-award winner (and Berkeley Rep favorite) Rita Moreno. No dates have been announced. In addition, no decision has been made on the seventh production.
