Today marks the second anniversary of Disney's dancing newsboys, who first made their jetés onto the stage of Broadway's Nederlander Theatre on March 29, 2012. Based on the 1992 musical film about the New York City Newsboys Strike of 1899, Newsies features a Tony-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, a Tony-nominated book by Harvey Fierstein, and Tony-winning choreography by Christopher Gattelli. The current cast stars Corey Cott as ringleader Jack Kelly (originated by Jeremy Jordan) and Liana Hunt as the charming reporter Katherine (originated by Kara Lindsay). The company also features John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, LaVon Fisher-Wilson as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andy Richardson as Crutchie, and Luca Padovan and Zachary Unger alternating the role of Les.
