Rock Singer Bret Michaels Files Lawsuit Over 2009 Tony Awards Injury

Rock star Bret Michaels has sued CBS Broadcasting and the organizers of the Tony Awards over an injury he sustained while performing at the June 2009 ceremony, according to published reports.

Michaels suffered a busted lip and broken nose when he was hit in the head by a piece of scenery during a production number. In his lawsuit, Michaels claims the accident contributed to a brain hemorrhage in April 2010 that nearly killed him and that he continues to deal with effects from the injury and brain bleeding that left him hospitalized last year.

Michaels is the lead singer of Poison, one of the rock groups whose songs are featured in the Broadway musical Rock of Ages.

So far, CBS has declined comment and no statement has been issued by the Tony Awards.
