Neil Patrick Harris, The Trevor Project, et al. Win Shorty Awards

Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris has won a Shorty Award for his use of Twitter. The winners were announced in a ceremony held on March 28 at The TimesCenter.

Harris has won in the category recognizing actors’ use of the online messaging service. Stana Katic received the award for actresses. Among the other winners are the LGBT service organization The Trevor Project, which has won in the Charity category, and Barney Stinson, who has won in the Entertainment category.


Harris is set to star in the New York Philharmonic’s production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Company, set to run April 7-9 at Avery Fisher Hall. His other stage credits include Assassins, Rent, Sweeney Todd, and All My Sons. In addition, he won 2010 Emmy Awards for hosting the 2009 Tony Awards, and for his guest starring role on Glee.
