John Kander, Stephen Schwartz, Rufus Wainwright, et al. Set for NYCO Roundtable Opera or Musical Theater?

Adam Guettel, David Henry Hwang, John Kander, Stephen Schwartz, and Rufus Wainwright will participate in the New York City Opera roundtable discussion, Opera or Musical Theater?, to be held at the Gershwin Theatre on Sunday, April 10 at 7:30pm. NYCO’s artistic director George Steel will serve as moderator.

The panelists will discuss what defines the opera and musical theater genres, and is being held in conjunction with NYCO’s production of Schwartz’s Séance on a Wet Afternoon, starring Lauren Flanigan, which will open on Tuesday, April 19.

As previously reported, NYCO will also honor Schwartz at its April 21 Spring Gala, Defying Gravity: The Music of Stephen Schwartz, featuring stars Kristin Chenoweth, Raúl Esparza, Ann Hampton Callaway and Victor Garber.
