Elton John will make an appearance at, and perform after, the world premiere of Cameron Crowe’s documentary The Union, which will open the Tribeca Film Festival on April 20, with a screening to be offered free-of-charge at the North Cove at the World Financial Plaza. The Festival continues through May 1.

The movie chronicles the collaboration between John, Leon Russell and producer T-Bone Burnett on the album The Union, which was released in late 2010. The film, like the album, includes appearances by lyricist Bernie Taupin, and musicians Neil Young and Brian Wilson. Stevie Nicks and Don Was are also among those who appear in the documentary.
