Broadway veterans Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper will co-star in the film, The Dark Fields, according to Variety.

The thriller, based on a novel by Alan Glynn, is adapted by Leslie Dixon, and will be directed by Neil Burger. The storyline is about a writer (played by Cooper), who gains a newfound intelligence from a designer drug. De Niro will play a financial mogul in pursuit of Cooper’s character.

De Niro began his acting career in the theater, and appeared on Broadway in the 1986 play, Cuba & His Teddy Bear, for which he received a Theatre World Award. Cooper appeared opposite Julia Roberts in the Broadway production of Three Days of Rain and co-starred in The Williamstown Theatre Festival’s production of The Understudy.
