Conceived and directed by James Lapine, this new music theater piece with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim will play a limited engagement at Roundabout Theatre Company's Studio 54, March 19-June 13, with an opening on April 22.
In the show, over two dozen of Sondheim's songs will be performed, interspersed with videotaped interviews of the composer-lyricist.
The cast will feature Barbara Cook, Leslie Kritzer, Norm Lewis, Erin Mackey, Euan Morton, Matthew Scott, Vanessa Williams, and Tom Wopat.
The creative team will include Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Susan Hilferty (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), Dan Moses Schreier (sound design), and Peter Flaherty (projection design). Musical direction will be by David Loud.
The Roundabout has previously produced five of Sondheim's musicals: Company, Follies, Assassins, Pacific Overtures, and Sunday in the Park with George, and presented a gala concert reading of A Little Night Music, starring the late Natasha Richardson and her mother, Vanessa Redgrave.
