PS Classics will record a two-disc, new Broadway Cast Album of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess on March 12 & 13.

Currently running at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the Broadway production is directed by Diane Paulus and stars Norm Lewis and Audra McDonald in the title roles.

The cast also features David Alan Grier as Sporting Life, Phillip Boykin as Crown, Nikki Renée Daniels as Clara, Joshua Henry as Jake, Christopher Innvar as Detective, Bryonha Marie Parham as Serena and NaTasha Yvette Williams as Mariah, as well as Sumayya Ali, Allison Blackwell, Roosevelt André Credit, Trevon Davis, Joseph Dellger, Wilkie Ferguson III, Carmen Ruby Floyd, Gavin Gregory, Heather Hill, David Hughey, Andrea Jones-Sojola, Alicia Hall Moran, Cedric Neal, Phumzile Sojola, Nathaniel Stampley, Julius Thomas III, J.D. Webster and Lisa Nicole Wilkerson.

Featuring an adaptation by Suzan-Lori Parks and Deidre L. Murray, the show is set in Charleston’s fabled Catfish Row, where the beautiful Bess struggles to break free from her scandalous past, and the only one who can rescue her is the crippled but courageous Porgy.

The album will be produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, and has an anticipated May 8 street date. It is currently available for pre-order at the label’s website, www.psclassics.com.
