Daytime Emmy Award Winner and Broadway Star Frances Reid Dies at 95

Frances Reid, who played Alice Horton on Days of Our Lives for 42 years, has died, according to published reports. She was 95.

Her work on the popular soap opera began in 1965 and was recognized in 2004 with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards. Her final appearance on the show was in 2007.

Reid made her Broadway debut in The Dream of Sganarelle and her other credits include Viola in Twelfth Night, Roxane in Cyrano de Bergerac opposite Jose Ferrer, Ophelia to Maurice Evans’ Hamlet and a production of The Rivals, which featured Mary Boland as Mrs. Malaprop.

In addition to her work on Days of Our Lives, Reid was a frequent guest star on such television progams as Perry Mason, Dr. Kildare, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

She was married to actor Phillip Bourneuf for 43 years until his death in 1979. They had no children.
