Actor Ian Carmichael, who played Robert in the original Broadway production of Boeing-Boeing, has died in England at age 89.

Carmichael was best known for his work on television, notably for playing Lord Peter Wimsey in a number of productions based on the novels of Dorothy L. Sayers. His other film and television credits included I'm All Right Jack, The Royal, and The World of Wooster.

He is survived by his wife, Kate Fenton, and two daughters.
