Rock of Ages -- which incorporates the music of such classic rock bands as Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, Asia, and REO Speedwagon -- will now begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on March 17 (three days earlier than the previously announced March 20), with an opening date set for April 7. No casting has been announced.

Written by Chris D'Arienzo and directed by Kristin Hanggi, the musical focuses on a young rocker hungry for his big break and a small town girl who meet in 1987 at a legendary Hollywood club facing its imminent demise. The production previously played Off-Broadway at New World Stages. In addition, a film version from New Line Cinema is in the works.

The show's creative team will include Kelly Devine (choreography), Beowulf Boritt (sets), Gregory Gale (costumes), Jason Lyons (lighting), Walter Trarbach (sound), Zachary Borovay (projections), Ethan Popp (music supervisor, arrangements, and orchestrations), and David Gibbs (original arrangements).

The Off-Broadway cast featured American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis, with Kelli Barrett, Nova Bergeron, Jackie Burns, Adam Dannheisser, Lara Janine, Mitchell Jarvis, Michele Mais, Lauren Molina, Brian Munn, Angel Reed, Paul Schoeffler, Christopher Spaulding, Will Swenson, Wesley Taylor, Tad Wilson, Savannah Wise, and Jeremy Woodard.
