Julie Danao-Salkin, Brett Holland, Jim Howard, and James Matthew Ryan will appear in the world premiere production of Anne Nelson’s Savages at the Lion Theater, March 8-April 1. Directed by Chris Jorie, the show will open officially on March 9.

The play is set in the midst of the Philippine/American Conflict in 1902. It explores that volatile situation through the eyes of four characters: a general currying favor with Washington, a Marine major on trial for war crimes, a young recruit, and a Filipina woman. The design team of the Lion Theater production includes Lauren Helpern (sets), Rebecca Bernstein (costumes), Besty Adams (lighting), and Jill BC DuBoff (sound).

Danao-Salkin was last seen as Yoko Ono in Lennon. Holland appeared at Berkeley Rep in The Notebooks of Leonardo DaVinci. Howard has starred in regional productions of Proof and Camping with Henry and Tom. Ryan has starred Off-Broadway in Golden Boy and Scenes from an Execution. Nelson is best known for her play The Guys.
