Asner, Gless, Farrell Set for LATW’s The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial

TV stars Edward Asner, Sharon Gless, Mike Farrell and the cast of Peter Goodchild’s The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial will conclude their 24-city national tour on March 1-5, when they perform as part of L.A. Theatre Works’ The Play’s the Thing series at the Skirball Center. The production is directed by Gordon Hunt.

Based on the famous 1925 “Scopes Trial,” in which a young teacher challenged the teaching of evolution in the classroom, the play stars Asner as attorney William Jennings Bryan and Farrell as attorney Clarence Darrow. Gless play’s the show’s narrator.

The cast also includes Matthew Patrick Davis, James Gleason, Harry Groener, Jerry Hardin, Jon Matthews, Robert Pescovitz, Rob Nagle, and David Alan Novak.
