It has just been announced that The Retreat from Moscow, William Nicholson’s new play at Broadway’s Booth Theatre, will close on Sunday, February 29, after 24 previews and 147 regular performances. This is the third show this week to announce a February closing; Never Gonna Dance and Gyspy also posted their closing notices on Monday, for February 15 and February 28, respectively.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, The Retreat from Moscow stars Eileen Atkins, John Lithgow, and Ben Chaplin. The play concerns the dissolution of a decades-long marriage and the son who is caught between his mother and father. The Broadway production features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, and sound design and original music by John Gromada.

In his review of the show for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote that “the play is a worthy consideration of what happens when good people make mistakes with all the best intentions and then try forcing them to come right.”
