New World Stages has announced that its currently running production of Bare, a rock musical about sexuality at a religious high school, will close on February 3, 2013, after 21 preview and 65 regular performances. The show will graduate to productions in Korea, Japan, Brazil, and Los Angeles.

"Bringing this production of Bare to the stage has been a labor of love for all involved," said producer Randy Taradash in a statement. "We are so proud of the show and its unique ability to spread the important messages of tolerance and equality."

Bare's off-Broadway company features Jason Hite (The Black Suits), Taylor Trensch (Wicked) and Elizabeth Judd (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), with Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening), Jerold E. Solomon (South Pacific), Barrett Wilbert Weed (Lysistrata Jones) and Missi Pyle (Boeing-Boeing). They are joined by Anthony Festa, Casey Garvin (West Side Story), Ariana Groover, Sara Kapner (Hollywood Arms), Alice Lee (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Megan Lewis (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Justin Gregory Lopez, Michael Tacconi, and Alex Wyse (Lysistrata Jones).

Weed was recognized by TheaterMania earlier this year for her stand-out performance as a high belting druggie in the production.

With a book and lyrics by Jon Hartmere and music by Damon Intrabartolo, Bare follows a group of teens trying to navigate young-adulthood and a Catholic high school, wrestling with issues of identity, sexuality, religion, and love.

The production is directed by Olivier Award nominee Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz) and choreographed by Emmy Award nominee Travis Wall (So You Think You Can Dance).
