Manhattan Theatre Club celebrated the opening night of Sharr White's drama The Other Place on Thursday, January 10 with a post-performance gathering at the Copacabana. The Broadway production, running at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Assassins), who helmed the work's acclaimed off-Broadway premiere in 2011 at MCC Theater's Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Three-time Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) leads the four-member company as neurologist Juliana Smithton, a role for which she received an Obie and a Lucille Lortel Award during the off-Broadway run. She is joined by Daniel Stern (Home Alone) as Juliana's husband, Ian, John Schiappa (Assassins) as "The Man," and Zoe Perry (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), Metcalf's real-life daughter, as "The Woman." The Other Place follows Juliana as her life spirals out of control. Her husband (Stern) files for divorce, her daughter (Perry) runs off with a much older man (Schiappa), and, after spotting a woman in a yellow bikini within a crowd of people in business attire, she begins to realize that her physical and mental health are in jeopardy.

Guests at the opening night performance included Tony Award winners Nathan Lane (The Producers), Adriane Lenox (Doubt), Jack O'Brian (Hairspray), Ron Rifkin (Cabaret) and his wife, Iva, Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange), Edie Falco (The Madrid), Brian d'Arcy James (Time Stands Still), Jessica Hecht (A View from the Bridge), and Jan Maxwell (Follies), Andy Cohen (Watch What Happens Live), Mario Cantone (Assassins), Trip Cullman (Murder Ballad), Ari Graynor (The Performers), Megan Hilty (Smash), Katie Holmes (Dead Accounts), Robert Emmet Lunney (Mauritius), Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy), Christopher Evan Welch (The Madrid), and Kate Whoriskey (Ruined).
