The winners of the 2006 Nightlife Awards, celebrating the best in New York cabaret, comedy, and jazz, have just been announced. Top honors go to Elaine Stritch and Brian Stokes Mitchell. The awards show, during which the honorees will perform rather than deliver acceptance speeches, is scheduled for Monday, February 6, at 7pm at The Town Hall.

The awards are voted by 27 critics and experts, based upon the shows they saw during the past year at clubs in New York City. All of the winners are invited to perform at The Town Hall, and additional celebrities will be on hand. Eartha Kitt, recipient of this year’s “Nightlife Legend” award, is confirmed to perform; other performers will be announced shortly. The 2006 Nightlife Awards ceremony is produced by Scott Siegel, who also created the critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year series at The Town Hall, as well as Broadway Unplugged and the Broadway Cabaret Festival.
