Penumbra Theatre Company to Temporarily Suspend Programming

By Bethany Rickwald • Sep 6, 2012 • Minneapolis

Penumbra Theatre Company has announced that it will temporarily suspend programming due to financial challenges.

If Penumbra's fundraising initiatives are successful this fall, the company plans to present SPUNK in March 2013, an adaptation by George C. Wolfe of three tales by Zora Neale Hurston, along with Let's Talk Theatre and REEL Talk events.

Additionally, the Penumbra Summer Institute, a three-year arts education and leadership training program, will be able to continue as scheduled.

Along with the suspension of programming, Penumbra Theatre Company has been forced to cut $800,000 from its remaining budget, including six full-time staff positions.
