Loretta Devine to Perform Pieces of Me at Stage 52

Award-winning performer Loretta Devine will present her show, Pieces of Me at Stage 52 in Los Angeles, September 11-October 3, with an opening on September 18.

The show is described as “an inventive, personal and socially conscious evening of poetry and songs.”

Devine created the role of Lorell in Michael Bennett’s production of Dreamgirls, with other stage credits including Bob Fosse’s Big Deal, George Wolfe’s Colored Museum, and the title role of August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. She may be best known for her roles in films including Waiting to Exhale, Funny Valentine, Kingdom Come, Preacher’s Wife, and the movie version of Dreamgirls.

She is a five-time winner of the NAACP Image Awards, 2007 Black Film Festival’s Best Actress Award, an Independent Spirit Awards nominee, and winner of the LA Women Theatre Festival’s Integrity Award.
