Viola Davis, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Hudson, Octavia Spencer Win NAACP Image Awards

The 43rd NAACP Image Awards ceremony was held on Friday, February 17 at the Shrine Auditorium and broadcast on NBC. Sanaa Lathan and Anthony Mackie hosted the event.


The Help was named Outstanding Film and earned acting awards for stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer; Laurence Fishburne won for his work in HBO’s Thurgood, which was also named Outstanding Television Movie or Miniseries, and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson took home awards for Outstanding Album and Outstanding Music Video.


Other actors who were honored for their work in film and television include Tatyana Ali, Laz Alonso, Emerson Brooks, Nick Cannon, Mike Epps, Taraji P, Henson, Regina King, LL Cool J, Keke Palmer, Archie Panjabi, James Pickens. Jr., Keshia Knight Pulliam, Tracie Ellis Ross, and Malcolm Jamal-Warner.
