Wilson Cruz to Receive 2010 Fusion Achievement Award

Wilson Cruz will receive the 2010 Fusion Achievement Award on March 13 at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The prolific stage and screen performer will be presented with the honor in a ceremony preceding the Fusion Gala screening of Quentin Lee’s The People I’ve Slept With. Cruz is receiving the award in recognition of his activism in the LGBT community.

The screening is the final event in the Fusion: the Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Film Festival, which will begin on March 11. In addition to the gala screening, the three day event will feature screenings of contemporary short films, and a screening of Shirley Clarke’s 1967 Portrait of Jason.

Cruz’s stage credits Rent on Broadway and several productions of Jonathan Larsen’s tick, tick…BOOM! around the country. He may be best know for his work on the television series My So-Called Life. Among his other credits are television’s ER, Noah’s Arc, and as a voice talent on Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in the World, as well as such feature films as All Over Me, and He’s Just Not That Into You.
