Broadway veterans and fellow Oscar nominees Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal will costar in June Pictures’ Wildlife, written and directed by actor Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) in his directing debut. Zoe Kazan, now performing in the off-Broadway Roundabout production of Love, Love, Love, coauthors the script.

Based on Richard Ford's 1990 novel of the same name, Wildlife tells the story of a teenage boy who witnesses the decay of his parents' marriage after they move to Montana.

The film is produced by Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks for June Pictures, as well as Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker for Nine Stories. Oren Moverman, Ann Ruark, and Dano will also produce, while Kazan and Eddie Vaisman are executive-producing.

Mulligan was last seen on Broadway in the 2015 revival of David Hare's Skylight, earning a Tony nomination for her performance. Gyllenhaal made his Broadway debut that same year in Nick Payne's Constellations opposite Ruth Wilson, and will return to the stage in March 2017 in the Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This.
