The Friars Club will honor Tom Cruise with its Entertainment Icon Award at its annual Friars Foundation on June 12 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, according to published reports.

The award pays tribute to people “whose accomplishments transcend the entertainment industry by positively redefining the very culture we live in,” according to the organization. There have only been three previous recipients in its 108-year history, Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra.

Cruise will be seen in the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages. His screen work includes the Mission Impossible films, A Few Good Men, and Vanilla Sky, among others.
