Nick Briggs, Nigel Planer, Matt Smith Set for Doctor Who LIVE Tour

British stage and television star Nigel Planer will headline the cast of Doctor Who LIVE, a new stage show based on the BBC series, according to Whatsonstage.com.

In addition to Planer, who will play Vorgenson, a new character who is described as the Doctor’s biggest fan, the show will also feature series star Nick Briggs; while Doctor Who star Matt Smith will lend his voice to the proceedings.

The show will tour arenas throughout the U.K. later this year, launching from Wembley Arena, where the piece will play October 8-10. After Wembley, the tour will play Sheffield (October 12-13), Glasgow (October 14-17), Birmingham (October 18-20), Manchester (October 22-24), Nottingham (October 25-26), Cardiff (October 28-31), Liverpool (November 2-3), and Belfast (November 6-7).

The show is expected to combine audio and video with special FX, optical illusions and spectacular pyrotechnics and live performance and will bring such characters and creatures from the series as Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Judoon and Oods. Specially edited video clips, drawn from the TV show will be shown on a massive screen and accompanied by the music of longtime Doctor Who composer Murray Gold, played by a 16 piece on stage orchestra.
