The NT Live Broadcast of Danny Boyle’s production of Frankenstein will be filmed in two different versions on March 17.

The evening performance, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Creature and Jonny Lee Miller as Frankenstein, will be broadcast live to cinemas in the UK and some venues abroad on March 17 at 7pm as already announced. The additional filmed performance with the leading roles reversed — Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein — will be screened worldwide at a later date.

Locations for New York City screenings will include City Cinemas 1, 2 & 3 (March 17), NYU’s Skirball Center (March 24 & 27) and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (March 24).

Miller appeared on Broadway last season in After Miss Julie. Other stage credits include Beautiful Thing and The Play What I Wrote. He has previously collaborated with Boyle on the film Trainspotting. Among his other movie credits are Eli Stone, The Flying Scotsman, Mansfield Park, Prime Suspect 3, Byron, and Emma.

Cumberbatch was seen earlier this year at the National in After the Dance, and has been longlisted an Evening Standard Award for his performance in that show. On television, he starred in the title role in the BBC’s Sherlock series.
