Earl Carpenter, Katie Hall, John Owen-Jones Set for The Phantom of the Opera U.K. Tour

John Owen-Jones and Earl Carpenter will share the title role and Katie Hall will play Christine Daae in a new production of The Phantom of the Opera, which, as previously announced, will begin a U.K. tour next February.

Owen-Jones is currently playing the role of the Phantom in the West End. Among his other credits is Les Miserables on Broadway and in the West End. Carpenter has also played the part of the Phantom in the West End. Among his other stage credits are Les Miserables and The Witches of Eastwick. Hall, a contestant on from the reality series I’d Do Anything, is currently the alternate Christine in the West End production of Phantom.

Laurence Connor will direct the new touring show which will launch with an engagement at the Thaetre Royal Plymouth, running February 27 – March 31. Other confirmed tour venues include Manchester Palace (April 4 – May 19), Bristol Hippodrome (May 22 – June 30), Dublin Grand Canal (July 4 – August 4), Leeds Grand (August 8 – September 15), Edinburgh Playhouse (September 19 – October 20), Milton Keynes Theatre (October 24 – November 24), Cardiff Millennium Centre (December 4 – January 12, 2013) and Southampton Mayflower (January 22 – February 16).

The creative team will also include choreographer Scott Ambler, scenic designer Paul Brown, costume designer Maria Björnson, lighting designer Paule Constable and sound designer Mick Potter.


Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber
