Stage and screen veteran Ian McDiarmid will lead the Royal Shakespeare Company’s forthcoming revival of Brecht’s A Life of Galileo, according to WhatsOnStage. The production, featuring a new translation by Mark Ravenhill, is directed by Roxana Silbert. It runs at the Swan Theatre from January 31 to March 30.

McDiarmid will be joined by Jodie McNee, who plays the role of Virginia. Additional casting and information will be announced in the near future.

Among McDiarmid’s recent stage credits are John Gabriel Borkman, Six Characters in Search of an Author, and Faith Healer, for which he won a Tony Award. He is perhaps best known as Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars films Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith.
